The compilation, organized by Tyler Bussey (of The World Is A Beautiful Place & I Am No Longer Afraid To Die) and Matt Sherman (Table Three Media), hopes to address the stigma of mental illness and its isolating nature with support through music. Proceeds from the album will benefit the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, an institution dedicated to helping people at risk, and those affected by the tragedy of suicide. (It is currently National Suicide Prevention Week.)

The songs for the release were compiled by Sherman and Bussey. The compilation includes new and unreleased cover songs from Chris Farren, Braid’s Bob Nanna, Adult Mom and many more, including Bussey's contribution (with help from members of Sorority Noise, Mylets, I Kill Giants, Snow Roller and Bas Relief) of a rendition of “This Must Be The Place (Naive Melody)” by Talking Heads.

Suicide is the 10th leading cause of death in the US, accounting for over 40,000 deaths per year, while over 400,000 people are hospitalized each year for non-fatal self harm. It’s tragic. However, groups like AFSP can help people at risk, as well as helping those affected by suicide recover from tragedy.

"I wanted to help raise more awareness about what AFSP does because of course, like virtually everyone, I've been affected by the suicides or suicide attempts of friends, even family members, over the years," Bussey says. “As I get older it continues to affect my community. I've definitely, as time has gone on, learned more re: how to approach it when a friend is expressing those thoughts. I know people who in the past year alone have been talked back from the brink. It's not something I was prepared to do as a kid, but the older I've gotten the more real it's become. It's so crucial that more people be informed and educated about the warning signs and how to best respond when they appear, both in those we love and in ourselves."

"I have a mental illness, and many of my friends do as well," Sherman says. "Suicide is a very real and very scary reality that plagues many of us. Suicide rates are disturbingly high, and these rates are even higher for marginalized groups, like the transgender community. The resources that AFSP provide help save lives and provide support to those who are dealing with loss at the hands of suicide, and I think that this is an incredibly valuable, important organization."
